blackburnsonney2k: working on summary13:57
blackburnwow we are all green14:09
wiking:D14:11
blackburnhmm rumours that putin has got brain attack14:12
blackburnwould be crazy14:12
wikingyou mean brain seazure?14:12
wikingor how to u spell it14:13
wikinga stroke :)14:13
blackburnno idea how to speak it in english14:13
blackburnblood damage14:13
wiking::>14:13
blackburnof brain14:13
wikingstroke14:13
blackburnokay I will try to remember :)14:13
wikingso will it be like with khrushchev? that they will deny that he is dead weeks after he actual death? :)14:15
blackburnI didn't know they denied that14:16
wikingi think it was him who's death they try to hide for a while14:16
blackburnI bet putin will live more than I lol14:16
wikingbut maybe it was another prominent soviet leader :P14:16
blackburnstalin's death was reported on next day14:17
blackburnbrezhnev too IIRC14:17
blackburnandropov, chernenko - no idea14:17
blackburnandropov is a fucking asshole good he got only 1 years to lead the country14:17
blackburnone year I mean :D14:17
blackburnor a little more14:17
wiking:>14:18
blackburnwiking: funny fact - when it was andropov one could be asked 'why are you on street now?'14:18
wikingmmmm14:18
wiking    lsvm.train()14:18
wikingRuntimeError: maximum recursion depth exceeded while calling a Python object14:18
wikingwhy o why14:18
blackburni.e. if you just walk around you could be arrested :D14:19
blackburnwiking: you forgot to declare some virtual method14:19
blackburnyou *have to* redeclare *all* virtual upper hierarchy-wise methods14:19
wikingi think i did :)14:20
wikingoh wait14:21
wikingmaaaaybe one left out14:21
wikingok found it :)14:22
wikingoh shit :)14:22
blackburnI have no consistent excuse for swig but we've got to declare it all again14:23
wikingmmm14:29
wikingso even if i want to base class to handle that14:29
wikingi have to define it14:29
wikingactually can i doo that? :)))14:30
blackburnyes, why not?14:32
wikingwell i've tried14:33
wikingLatentModel.get_num_vectors()14:33
wikingdef get_num_vectors(self):14:33
wikingreturn LatentModel.get_num_vectors(self)14:33
wikingdoesn'twork14:33
blackburn!!!!!!!!!!!!!14:33
blackburn:D14:33
blackburnno!14:33
wikingthen?14:33
blackburnyou have to declare it in directorlatentmodel14:33
wikingbut if i declare it14:34
blackburnvirtual blablba() { BaseClass::blablba() }14:34
wikingah14:34
wikingi see14:34
blackburnsee directoranything for example14:34
blackburnlike risk or kernel14:34
wikingand in my own implementation14:38
wikingi still have to define after this in python14:38
wikingor that is handled?14:38
wikingi mean in my case the get_num_vectors14:38
blackburnwell you don't have to14:40
wikingokey14:40
wikinglet's see now14:40
blackburnwiking: in python you only redefine what you want14:40
wikingsegfault14:40
blackburnbut in directorclass you define everything you could redefine14:40
blackburnalias hulk=git; hulk push --force14:41
blackburnwiking: gdb14:42
wiking:>>14:42
wikinghul14:42
wikingk14:42
wiking:D14:42
blackburnalias hulk=gdb this time14:43
wikingdoh14:46
wikingi dont get a reference on the base class' protected members?14:46
wikinglike self.m_labels14:47
wiking?14:47
wikingblackburn: :D14:51
wikingping ping14:52

blackburnsonney2k: I could pay by myself in the end anyway - but I am not really going to get into schedule15:03
blackburnwaiting for a foreign passport now15:03
blackburnthey accepted my order - all I have is to wait15:03
wikingsonney2k: but that 40mil usd is kind of wasted money that is being reimbursed from their tax ;)15:05
wikingso they rather pay that for actual code than for the IRS15:05
wiking:P15:05
blackburnsonney2k: I am not sure what you meant, is 40M$ a big sum for google?15:07
blackburnthey have such money and much beyond I believe :)15:08
@sonney2kwiking, then why are other companies not doing that?15:08
wikingblackburn: yeah knowing that their last revanue after taxation was around 11 BIL usd :)15:08
wikingsonney2k: because their give a fuck? :)15:08
blackburnwell bosses of other companies are wooden assholes15:08
blackburnthey can't believe such things can improve anything and they do not want to improve anything15:09
@sonney2kblackburn, just divide the profit they make per year by the number of days - then you know how many days worth of their profit 40M are15:09
@sonney2kwiking, blackburn yeah but they all depend on OSS too15:10
wikingmmm15:10
wiking30136986.301415:10

wikingsonney2k: do you know anything about having access on the base class' attributes in python from the derived class?15:12
wikingcurrently it's not possible :)15:12

ptizoommany many more than release in <lisitsyn.s.o@gmail.com>  2012-09-20 21:12:56... if it helps!19:29
blackburnonly in perl right?19:31

ptizoombut... now I rebased and used sonney2k .i ... as is...19:32
ptizoomand here they come back again...which means ...19:33
ptizoomhere is the list of culprits: ../data/kernel/LinearByte_RAWBYTE_60.m , ../data/kernel/Linear_fnord.m  , ../data/kernel/LinearString_DNA_60.m  , ../data/kernel/SparseLinear_fnord.m ,19:35
blackburn so .m files fail?19:38
ptizoomalso to gdb , do not forget someting like this: LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/src/shogun/src/interfaces/perl_modular:/usr/src/shogun/src/shogun" gdb19:38

@sonney2kwiking, blackburn any status updates?22:10
blackburnsonney2k: status of?22:13
blackburnsonney2k: we are waiting you to submit probably22:13
@sonney2kblackburn, we haven't written anything yet regarding Q: Projects only : Please outline in brief detail how the nominated project would benefit from attending the 2012 GSoC Doc Camp.22:15
blackburnwhoops22:15
@sonney2kso we are not close to submitting anything22:15
blackburnsonney2k: is it the only one left?22:16

heikoblackburn, yes?22:17
blackburnheiko: sonney2k is here22:17
blackburnProjects only : Please outline in brief detail how the nominated project would benefit from attending the 2012 GSoC Doc Camp.22:17
blackburnhttps://github.com/shogun-toolbox/shogun-tutorial22:17
blackburnwe have nothing in there22:17
heikoblackburn, we should quickly write that I did not see it22:18
heikowell in the tutorial there is not much, but it is a start and shows that we already thought about things22:18
blackburnno, i mean the link is not the answer22:19
wikingdamn i've missed that22:19
blackburnokay lets come up with something right now22:19
heikowhat?22:19
blackburnheiko: Please outline in brief detail how the nominated project would benefit from attending the 2012 GSoC Doc Camp.22:19
heikoaaah I see22:19
@sonney2khi heiko22:20
heikosonney2k, hi22:20
@sonney2khi gsomix long time no see...22:20
heikowell that is kind of included in the other longer text22:20
wikinggsomix: !22:20
heikosonney2k, blackburn, we should just split it a bit22:20
@sonney2kheiko, what I intend to write there is that we have a huge code base22:20
blackburnheiko: yeah may be22:20
@sonney2kbut accessibility to users is hard (even though we have a large doxygen reference documntations  and a minimal tutorial)22:21
@sonney2kso this year gsoc students decided to have a doc sprint22:22
@sonney2kwithout even knowing about gsoc doc-sprint they started creating a tutorial22:22
blackburnsonney2k: good point22:22
heikosonney2k, yes good!22:23
@sonney2kthat currently covers three classes of algorithms, multitask, multiclass and heikos stuff :D22:23
gsomixsonney2k: sorry for that, busy time :)22:24
@sonney2kThese students were all successful participants of last years (or this years) google summer of code and have become core contributors to shoguns code base22:24
@sonney2kgsomix, I still count on you wrt model selection typemaps :D22:25
heikosonney2k, maybe we could also add some part about non-ML related stuff in shogun. Such as a description of the interfaces and installation/configure-switches etc22:25
@sonney2kptizoom, if you have time later this evening we can chat22:25
@sonney2kheiko, yes please do22:25
heikoI meant in the goals for the doc summit22:25
@sonney2klet me write sth for the first question in the meantime22:26
heikosonney2k, gotta go in 10 mins, but will write a short paragraph about that22:26
wikingIn the past we've planned to have a mini-conf amongs the core developers in order to write a thorough tutorial for users as Shogun's code-base is very huge (n classes etc.) and as a new-comer it could be quite hard to get a grip on it's structure/usage. There are a lot of state-of-art machine learning algorithms implemented in Shogun, hence sometimes it could be hard for a user to choose the right one for his needs. Having a good tutorial would help the22:27
wikinghow's that sound?22:27
wikingsonney2k heiko blackburn ^22:27
heikoI like it, sonney2k, should include it in the text hes currently writing22:28
wikingjust finish it with something nice instead of blablabla :P22:28
blackburnwiking: sounds nice22:29
gsomixsonney2k: I still count so22:31
heikosonney2k, Shogun offers interfaces to quite a number of different programming languages and external libraries. This results in a non-trivial compile and installation process. In the book, we want to include a howto on getting shogun to run in different contexts in terms of interfaces, OS, and external libraries. This would make it much easier for first time users to grips with shogun.22:31
heikosonney2k, blackburn, wiking,  gotta go now, bye bye lets hope we got accepted :)22:32
wikingheiko: cyaz22:34

@sonney2kwiking, blackburn I think the only benefit to shogun to have the doc sprint is a nice tutorial that in turn would increase its popularity and user base (not only domain experts)?22:58
@sonney2kMaybe because we would all meet also increase the motivation amongs us22:58
blackburnsonney2k: right23:16
@sonney2kmaybe I could write sth like shogun might become the de-facto standard toolbox in ML23:20
blackburnsonney2k: ha!23:21
blackburn:)23:21
blackburnchris should have started his talk already23:21
@sonney2kblackburn, wiking please read again23:23

@sonney2kptizoom, alright now whats going on?23:37
@sonney2kptizoom, you said you have lots of double free issues etc?23:37
@sonney2kdo these go away if you compile with --disable-reference-counting ?23:38
@sonney2kor where do these happen23:38
